Finally I found the thread needed for my WIP game. I already have the fan game posts on the other thread, now what will I need are expert spriters.

The task: if you will participate, then you'll select the sprites needed to be fixed base on my videos posted, I'll give the set of sprites to you, re-twerk, err... re-tweak it! MM - Ill and then post it here on this forum. Credit will be yours instead of mine.

I haven't done any spritework for close to 2 years now (and I'm still quite the novice), mostly since I have shifted focus to graphics ripping and ROM hacking. So for a fun little side project, I decided to revamp some of my old work.

Mega Man X - style conversion:

I'm not fully happy with how some of X's frames came out, so those will probably get tweaked eventually. I think the teleporting effect turned out nicely at least. NOTE: The pink in X's palettes is reserved for his armor (as shown in the pic below).

I did some experimenting with X's armors as well. They turned out okay I guess, it helped map out X's palette usage anyway.

So, I'm getting started on a new Mega Man fangame. It's currently untitled but I do have a fairly solid beginning, here. First I have 8 robot masters, the theme being that I've taken 8 NetNavis from the Battle Network series that did not have any classic series Robot Masters, and basically reverse engineered them into Robot Masters.

First: Grid Man. Level: well, kinda hard not to make it a lot like Strike Man's, it will likely have a few of the same enemies, but will have new ones as well, and will be set at night to help visually diferentiate it. Weapon: "Flying Tackle." A dash attack, similar to Pluto's weapon, able to be used in the air to get places you can't normally reach.

Second: Ride Woman. (Yes, there is a RideMan.exe.) Level: My most completed idea. Starts on top of a moving train, eventually goes inside during a robbery and ends in a sub boss, most likely based on a coal burning engine. Afterwards, it goes into a chase sequence through the desert on a mechanical horse, kinda similar to Wave Man's level, chasing the bandits, before landing at Ride Woman's door. Weapon: "Piercing Magnum." A simple, fast moving straight bullet that fires one at a time and pierces shields.

Third: Planet Man. Stage. A planetarium with holographic technologies, making it something of a combination of Galaxy Man's stage and Star Man's stage. Weapon: "Killer Satellite." Quick description: Strider's Ouroboros satellites, basically.

Fourth: Mist Woman. Stage: Not exactly figured out, but Arabian Knights themed. Weapon: "Magic Mist." Upon discussion in the Dead Chat, I need to reevaluate this one.

Fifth: Laser Man. Level: A high tech lab with bouncing lasers, not instant death for the most part. Weapon: "Laser Burst." Fires a laser that shoots forward a few steps, then gathers in a ball, and bursts into a five shot spread.

Sixth: Kendo Man. Level: Very Japanese, like Ryu's SF2 level on the outside, tatami mats etc. on the inside. Weapon: "Kendo Stance." Mega Man stops and guards himself with a lightsaber kendo stick for as long as the button is held. If an energy shot hits the stick, he responds with a blade beam. If you let go of the button, he swings the stick with no distance attack.

Seventh: Color Man Level: unknown as of yet. Weapon: "Paint Burst." Full screen attack. Mega Man throws a pod in the air, that explodes, leaving splatters of paint on the screen for a second or two.

Eighth: Bowl Man. Stage: Begins at the public area of a bowling alley: goes through the arcade before going through the lanes, and finishing up going through the mechanics behind the lane. Weapon: "Bowling Ball" throws a bowling ball that travels along the ground. Crawls up walls.

Here's some rough reference to use for basic spriting.

Story: I've got two ideas so far. Given the Battle Network theme of the bosses, I want to link the game to battle network somehow. Idea 1 is to make a classic series version of Battle Network 2, a shadowy new villain is causing problems, and is revealed to be the Classic Series version of Sean Obihiro. Wily will be revealed to be manipulating and using him and would be the final boss. The other one would have Wily set as the villain from the start, but would have a surprise twist of him having been getting "help" from ClockMan.exe, with a final level taking place in cyberspace.

At this point, I've got a good team on the design side of things, as well as programming. We'll likely use the Mega Engine. And, if I had to I could learn to sprite the bosses and new enemies. (Here's an early attempt at Grid Man, for example: [Image: gridmantwo.png]) However, if someone who knows spriting already would be willing to lend us their services, I'd be waaay grateful. Two things I'll need without question: background sprite and tileset creators, and a composer.

MaGMML2 (Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2!) - Announcement + Weapon Voting

It's finally time! The (not so very) long awaited Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2 is here! So yeah, this contest is basically happening only because there was a lot to be desired in the original MaGMML and there were a bunch of things that were just a big mess there (judging, the final game being really buggy, lack of testing). Also there have been a LOT of people asking if there's gonna be another one, and I think a lot of people will be happy to here that this is happening! Hopefully this will be a lot bigger than the original!

Already I'm planning some major changes - first of all, instead of Blyka's engine, this will be using the Mega Engine by WreckingPrograms. So yeah you can get that delicious 60 fps and no more auto-scrolling that creates OOB glitches! And the next thing - I'm sure many people are aware of the lack of weapon variety in MaGMML1, what with Metal Blade, Pharaoh Shot and Magic Card being baaaasically the same weapon. To solve this, the weapons have been separated into categories that people will vote in, and the winner of each category gets in. And the biggest change - in order to prevent the utter trainwreck that was the MaGMML engine, there will be a lengthy testing period with the engine provided through PM, so everyone can constantly comb for bugs in the engine and give suggestions for new features.

In terms of features, I plan to include pretty much everything from MM1-6, and sprinkle in stuff from the rest of them (including the Gameboy games). Instead of just having Rush Coil and Jet, there will be 4 slots for utilities that will be all voted on. There's also been discussion of possibly using an external room editor but I'm not sure if it'll happen yet. And because we're using the afromentioned Mega Engine, this will use Game Maker 8.1 and as such there will be some new features in terms of coding and the room editor.

Only one judge has been completely decided on yet (besides myself), so if you're interested in judging feel free to express interest in this thread and I'll make decisions. Keep in mind though that like last time you'll have to make a Wily Castle level. I'd like to have a totally different lineup than MaGMML1 this time around. A rubric is also in the works but it's not fully finished yet.

But yeah, the first thing to be done is the weapon voting. VOTE HERE GUYS.

Note changes here are not fixed in the current build, but are being listed here so people will stop reporting them.
That being said, thank you for reporting them in the first place! Be sure to actually report them on INC rather than elsewhere, otherwise I might not notice said bug reports. I can only fix the bugs I'm aware of! If you can tell me the circumstances in whence they occurred as well, that'd be great too.

This thread will be updated as I.. update stuff.

Stuff Currently Being Worked On:
* Turquoise Toad Man's level has been started, and his tileset mostly finished.
* Amethyst Snake Man's tileset has been finished.

Changes:
* Crystal Flash Man now inverts the colours on screen when he does za waurdo.

Fixes:
* Fixed a graphical error that occurred when grabbing onto certain ladders whilst dashing.
* I think I've fixed this. I can't reliably replicate the circumstances though, so I'm not 100% certain.
* You can no longer backtrack through already cleared areas after dying and respawning at a checkpoint.
* Defeating a boss whilst dashing now disables your dash.
* Double KO-Ing the Intro Boss no longer results in... this.

Story:

It's 200X and Wily is still alive but in jail! Mega Man is in Dr. Lights lab like always, when suddenly, 8 robots are destroying Mega City. "What is happening?!" Mega Man said. "8 robots are destroying Mega City" Dr. Light said. "I know that!" Mega Man said. "But how and why!". Then the monitors all around Mega City turned on with a kinda familiar face on them. "Good afternoon, Mega Citians. My name is Hard Man. Give up your city or face the consequences!. I suggest you comply" Hard Man said firmly. "Hard Man!? I thought he was reprogrammed to be a good robot years ago! What's happening!?" Mega Man yelled. "It doesn't matter, you got to take care of those robots! You are our last hope maybe!" Light said. "I will, thank you father!" Mega Man said then took off.

Hello.

Recently I've started working on new Mega Man fangame, yet I still haven't picked right name for it. Among many Game Maker based projects, this one will be made with use of Multimedia Fusion 2. However I decided to prepare it by myself - that will help me in understanding in case of glitches that might occur durning test.

Anyway, here's preview of what I have done so far:



Also I wanted to share idea of story and ask you for opinion about that:

Whole story is set few years after events of Mega Man 7. People started to belive that peace was restored once and for all. One evening while watching TV, Dr. Light, Roll and Mega Man finds out that in one facility robot started to act strangely - they didn't do their job as they should, moreover some of them started to act violently. Mega Man decided to check out, what's wrong with them and it turns out all robots have been corrupted with faulty code. Further investigation shows that it wasn't done by Dr. Wily...

That's for now as for story, since I don't want to spoil it all. Also I wanted to write a bit more about mechanics of this title:
- Slide will be avaible, charged buster and similar weapons not
- There's chance Rush items like Rush Coil and Jet will be added. For now I have problems with programming them correctly - in case if I'd fail, for sure I'll add other support items
- There's high chance Mega Man won't be only playable character (I've already programmed someone else, yet I don't want to show it yet).

I won't lie it will be nice if there will be anyone, who'd like to help me with making this. For now it would be enough to have people who'd like to test this demo once I'll prepare it and give feedback what could be improved. Yet I'm glad to hear any other suggestions.

So I decided to try something new. I wanted to make a engine I can use, so I grabed Blyka's SkullMan example and did some modifications. Here's the changelog:
-Runs at 60 fps, objects have been edited to run at normal speed
-Edited SkullMan's (Will be MegaMan in the future) physics to more match the offcial games
-Added a enemyparnet and healparent
-Added other things not shown (New enemies, health items etc)

I included the orignal, unedited version so you can compare.

MM - Sigh um, well, here i am again with another ideas for a Fan Game and...
No I not have anithing to show of that project...
I've been thinking and planning ...
A fan game that was ... different, so I had this idea

MEGAMAN XOVER - Great Battle
- You only controls Over-1 and its 4 Armor Elementary.
- The Other Megamans is not about history, yet.

- History: Let's say we're an unspecified date ...
Over-1 awakens in a time well ahead of when it was created (Say 6 centuries to be exact), for some reason he feels a presence, was Kalinka (Soon I will explain about this later) ... Let's cut to the chase.
Someone hacked into the Operating System Capsula, getting information Armour Over-1, so created 15 Robos the Equal Armor Over-10 and he took one for himself (personal use).
- The robots are:

 OVERs 2-Spec, 3-Spec, 4-Spec, 5-Spec, 6, 7, 8, 9, C, Z(Old), D, O, Z & B.
(Face the First 8, then face each other)
- Zehr could be playable, but only after reset the game or use the KONAMI CODE.

Look well, that's just my suggestion and is not complete, or left the paper to tell the truth, I just wanted to share my ideas ...

(Not to mention I'm new here and do not understand much)

On the fact of kalinka this story ... let me explain ...
when Dr.Koosack created OVer-1 he did thinking of her daughter. He wanted him to protect. One day he took a more drastic descisão that Light, kept her and her daughter in a capsule of resfriemento for 600 years in the future ...
- Bad he knew he would see mark Seasons ...
Kossack put his conscience in a digital intelligence that could last long enough for his newest work is wake up and see the fruits that would give. Still, he did not last, it left only files, message, Artifacts and capsules to bring .. (some of his belongings were found with time).
Why when Over-01 awoke she woke up together. Automatically they created a relationship of brother and sister, taking care of each other ...
At the time the technology had advanced enough (I can not describe the look of the epoch technology) ..

this a time then starts up the confusion in the city, and Over-1 enters action to save the Chaos in the country of a mysterious man.

(And I do not intend to drop the project Megaman Overlight just took a while, I'm focusing on other projects like this, something simpler).

Entity's Sprites

So I'm going to start dabbling in sprites every once in a while. I already have done so a bit here and there, but now I want to start doing more complete stuff like a tileset or two, or some spritesheets for some bosses. First, I'm going to start with a logo for my MaGMML level. I need some criticism. Also I know there's five colors, shaddap.

[Spiritual Successor] Sonarbat

Sonarbat is a young bat who was created through the use of Deoxyribonucleic acid by a scientist who wished to preserve the flying Mammals from extinction. He extracted the last vestages from several remaining species and ones from the past and was able to repopulate the species.

The timeframe is around the year 3000 and many changes have taken place. Games companies like Nintendo, Sega, and the like have been buried for about 300 years. Videogames no longer exist as an Entertainment medium, yet Sonarbat has stumbled upon them and wondered what they are like.

The evil scientist plans for world domination have come to end yet buried beneath the ruins of his lab are a few mechanical bubble bats who are not in working order but the scientist Mathew takes the creations home with him and begins to repair them. The blue warrior has yet to be seen but is assumed to have perished in the building.

The newly awakened robotic bats are given the task to nurture and care for the newly created Sonarbat. Sonarbat's friends are a ghostbat, and an electric bat called Zap. Yet one day his friends turn on him and began to cause havoc to the world.

Sonarbat though young decides to take on his former friends and save the world from destruction.

Sonarbat's main attack is his Sonarwave.
His health is only a max of 6
His weapon energy is only 18
Sonarwave only does 1 - 3 damage.

The enemies can deal between 1-3 damage, or are insta kill.

bosses attacks:
pellet attack: 1 damage
collision: 2 damage
instakill ability

I do have images of the characters Zap, Sonarbat, and Bubble bats, but they are still wips.
