So I was watching AVGN and a certain part came up:

"How about: You're a shark, and you gotta shake palm trees until trains fall down, and you put the trains in an apple, and then turkeys come and eat the apple, and then the turkeys go up waterfalls, and to get them down you have to collect monkey butts, so you drop the monkey butts on power lines, and then..."

I then thought to myself: I NEED TO MAKE A GAME BASED ON THIS.

Testers Wanted for Mega Man Themed Card Game

Hey, myself and a friend, (goes by Loyana online), have been for the past year developing a co-operative deckbuilder Mega Man card game, and we'd like others to test it, and hopefully to see if people are interested!

By co-operative, we basically mean this: Players work together against an automated Dr. Wily/Sigma deck and must defeat it together, or lose together! And it's been all well and good me and Loyana playing it, but we'd like the opinions of others!

Two things required:
a) A Discord account, so we can communicate through voice chat.
b) Preferably a microphone and way to listen to others as we play, as it is a lot easier to play these sort of games whilst talking.

Further things and information can be given on Discord, such as the program we'd be using to test the game with. If there is enough interest we are looking to make an actual client for the game, but we need to know if there is interest first!

Tilesets for MM9/10

In the process of pulling together assets for OH JOES!, I discovered a distinct lack of freely available tilesets from Mega Man 9 and 10. Unless anyone knows of a website I've overlooked, I'd like to organize a community effort to fill in the gaps.

To my knowledge, the Robot Master stages from MM9 (included in the MaGMML2 devkit) are the only tilesets out there from these two games. I've already started creating tilesets for stages whose graphics might look good in OH JOES!, but (a) I'm new to this process, so I guarantee my tilesets are less polished and complete than they could be; and (b) filling in ALL the gaps is a larger task than I'd care to handle on my own.

That being said, if anyone would like to participate in this endeavor, I've set up a public spreadsheet to keep track of who's working on which tileset. Go ahead and claim any tileset you want to work on, and post a reply with a download link or embedded image when you're done!

I welcome the input of anyone with actual tileset experience, and I encourage everyone to (constructively) point out any mistakes, omissions, or user-unfriendly tile layouts. If you're feeling particularly ambitious, animated tilesets for use with Mega Engine are certainly welcome. Hopefully this turns into a fun and productive community project, but if not, I'll keep working on my own and will share whatever I come up with.

About:
If you weren't aware, my level entry for Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2 was disqualified because it unfortunately gave ACESpark, one of the contest's five judges, severe motion sickness due to the level's excessive bouncing effect throughout.

Because it was deemed that the level could not be modified after it was judged, I have decided to release a version of the level without the bouncing gimmick as a standalone executable file. This will not reflect the level in the main game; the level in the main game will still retain the bouncing and the subsequent health warning that will be present on it.

Mega Man: Mechanoid Mayhem

Hey guys. Did you miss me? Anyway, uh, here is a Mega Man fan game idea that I've been spending a very long time brainstorming. I'm not sure about making this a thing, but I at least wanna share this cool swag with you. Just a fair warning, this "game" would make several deviations from the norm and would probably be more plot-heavy.

MEGA MAN: Mechanoid Mayhem

Story:
Taking place after Mega Man 10, Dr. Wily seems to have turned good after the Roboenza incident... That is, until he suddenly launched yet another large-scale attack, once more claiming his desire for supremacy! Mega Man, surprised by the mad Dr.'s return to evil, jumps into action to save the day again. Noticing the threat of Dr. Wily, Proto Man decides to once again intervene and assist his younger brother. Together, the heroic robot brothers go on to save the day from Dr. Wily's new army, including the 10, yes, TEN, Robot Masters leading the Grand Wily Battalions!
I have way more in mind, but I don't want to spoil stuff.
As for other things, it would probably have dialogue at the start of levels and before boss fights. Might include a database which elaborates a bit on characters, bosses, enemies and lore after parts of it are unlocked throughout the game.

Gameplay:
As usual, you have your slide and charge abilities, as well as access to utilities such as Rush and the Tanks.
Then, from there, you'll have some new stuff! As explained earlier, you have 10 Robot Masters to choose from, though you are not required to defeat them all to advance. To compensate, each Robot Master has 2 extra weaknesses aside from their actual weakness, but that's as far as I'll talk about that. After defeating 8 of them, there will be a cutscene where the robot brothers would split up and defeat one of the last remaining two due to the size of the attack.
A Shop would be included where the handy robot Auto would build items to help you in your journey.
Not sure about it, but would include Proto Man as a playable character with his own set of abilities. If that was the case, then here are some arbitrary choices:
-If you can only select one at the beginning, they'll go through the journey like usual.
-If you play as both in the journey, you can switch between them freely during the level. However, you must fight all 10 Battalion leaders, with the last 2 being fought alone with either brother due to the split-up. They might have their own sets of Special Weapons which they obtain for themselves by dealing the finishing blow to the Battalion leaders.
-Which would be better? The option to play as both is available from the start, or make that an unlockable?
-Wonder if a co-op system ala Mega Man X8 would sound cool... For example, when one character loses all of his health, you can carry on with the other; You can free yourself from traps by switching; etc.

Visuals:
As usual, this would use 8-bit spriting, but hold your horses, folks! Instead of the usual NES-style that has remained consistent over the years, I envision a style where the characters would get overhauls to be more visually-appealing and "accurate". Although choice of palette would be similar to that of the 8-bit games(particularly 9 and 10), it would not perfectly adhere to the more strict NES limitations such as "sprite tiles" and "layers". This opens up more choices for visuals!

Unfortunately, I have not planned and sprited all the Robot Masters yet, though I am going to tell you that this roster has 2 recurring themes. They would probably be of the DWN series, continuing off of Mega Man 10.

We need volunteers to work.

Everyone can join this project freely.
1) Sprite creator: Draw sprites which does not exist yet but need in this game.
2) Developer: RXPB's engine is on public on Github. You can implement modules to use.
3) Illustrator: Draw illusts of cutscenes or scg in game.
4) General: Make GIF animation moving each sprites' position appropriately.

Vile Rampage

This idea came to mind and I decided to put it together. It turned out very pleasant so I've been continuing development.

Vile Rampage

Rampage through the city as Vile from X3 in his ride armor!
Killing enemies will recharge your dash bar, but taking missiles will slower it's recovery.
Watch your dash, though, as falling off will stop you.

The video shows v0.3 and it's only available level. It includes a DOWNLOAD LINK in the description!
Beware, this is more difficult than it looks. My record time is 0:40 now, please tell me in how long you could beat it!

Controls:
Z - Attack
X - Jump
C - Dash

I Wanna Be The X

So X and I Want To Be The Guy had a kid, and he wants to be just like his pappa.
I started making this yesterday right after I found out about the huge IWBTG fangames community.
Six hours of non-stop development later, I have one level to show off!

The video shows off the first level with no sounds. It includes a DOWNLOAD LINK in the description!
Beware, this is more difficult than it looks. Get the diver onto the coronel!

Mega Man Neo

I've always wanted to make a Mega Man fangame, so I thought I'd come up with something.
Mega Man Neo
I haven't thought about the story much, but here's the general idea: Wily upgraded some Robot Masters which cannot be beaten in Mega Man's current state, so Light creates a powerup for Mega Man.
I know it's a bit fan fiction-y and very similar to Mega Man V's story, but I can't think of anything better. For now. I also planed to have it end by Wily kindnapping Rock and travelling back in time, staring MMII.
Here is the new Mega Man:

The main mechanic of the game is the new ring projectile;

When two or more of them are onscreen and have stopped, a line of electricity is created. This hurts enemies, but not Mega Man and can be used to create new gimmicks in stages. They stop when they come in contact with the special blocks.
Here are the upgraded Robot Masters:

Along with the cosmetic changes they also get new attacks to keep the bossfights more interesting (not decided upon yet).

So what do you think, what should I do with this? Vote in the pollbecause I wanted to make one!

Wait. What?

Yeah, I've been sitting on this update a little too past Quint's Revenge's sell by date, but a few things going on, and a few requests for me to actually update the game into a more playable state have spurred on it's release.
This is not a sweeping everything has changed sort of update, it's the same game more or less, just significantly more polished.
(Although there are a few rather major changes for the better), but it is a significant update none-the-less.
Want proof? Check out the changelog..


Noteworthy additions:
  • SOOOOO many bug fixes.
  • Bosses have been revamped, with a few gaining new or heavily modified attack patterns.
  • Wily 2 is longer and has a more even difficulty curve.
  • There's an additional boss in Wily Castle.
  • The Charge Shot is unlockable by beating the game.
  • The Energy Balancer and a couple of control tweaks from Quint's Revenge 2 made its way into this one.

Old saves can carry over if you copy the files into the new one's folders. For the dedicated few who enjoyed this game enough to bug me to update it - enjoy!
For any new players - enjoy a more polished experience.

EDIT: Realised some of my fixes were not applied to Clash Man's stage in this build, they've been reapplied.

New Project: Neo - Human!

Welcome to the project "Neo - human"! What is Neo - Human? It is a game with the spirit of Megaman. A 2D platformer in which you have to protect the world from invasive robots!

Background

The world is facing a threat to robots. Robots and androids do not normally attack humans, because a programmed protocol should prevent this. However, this security protocol can be circumvented by manipulation. The robots and androids can then be abused for criminal purposes. A team of scientists have founded the Project Neo - Human to fight against this misuse. The result is a powerful and agile Android, called "Neo - Human"!

Story

It is the year 20xx. It is normal for modern society to live with robots and androids. The robots carry out many annoying tasks in everyday life, making life easier. Life with the robots, however, was not always harmonious. Criminals have used the forces of the androids and robots for selfish purposes in the past. To counter this, a group of scientists created an android with special powers, an android with a pronounced sense of justice. The scientists, led by Dr. Friede, called these Androids Neo - Human! Well, after a long period of peace, the calm before the storm is palpable. Dr. Friede, his team and Neo - Human are looking nervously into the future.

The game is almost finished(90%). I will release it first in german and then an english version will follow. A release is targeted at the end of april or early may.
